A stunning antique early 20th-century austrian art nouveau bronze portrait figurine / sculpture depicting the renowned golfer harry vardon, titled "joueur au golf". This piece is dated circa 1925 and was created by sculptor and designer richard thuss (1865–1953). It was crafted by the esteemed company argentor of vienna, austria. This captivating and elegant jugendstil sculpture is crafted from black-finished bronze and mounted on its original marble base, enhancing its overall allure. A finely modeled and meticulously detailed example of viennese bronze craftsmanship. The sculpture stands 12.5 inches tall and remains in very good, original condition. It is marked on the base with "argentor vienna," a hallmark of its provenance and quality. Henry william vardon (9 may 1870 – 20 march 1937) was a celebrated professional golfer from jersey. He was a member of the esteemed great triumvirate alongside john henry taylor and james braid. Vardon won the open championship (also known as the british open) a record six times and claimed victory at the 1900 u.s. Open. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
