The palette consists of serene and peaceful shades of blue and yellow and contrasted by calming white tones. Lively, sculptural brushwork and marks brings depth and movement to the painting. Monica borrowed the title for this painting from one of her favorite poems by Mary Oliver titled "Fresh the Flowers, She Said". Monica takes a lot of inspiration from elements of the natural world.

Monica Shulman is a New York-based artist whose tells stories through her brand of gestural abstraction. Her work is rooted in the traditions of abstract expressionism and she describes her world as colorful and rhythmic. Monica's paintings reflect an evolving universe where communication is less concrete. She is greatly inspired by the colors, textures and light in nature and especially the area around the Hudson Valley were her studio is located just on the banks of the Hudson River.
