A majestic sideboard crafted in the style and quality of Henning Kjærnulf, this piece showcases exceptional craftsmanship in every detail. Made from solid oak, it features an adjustable shelving system that uses beautifully crafted corner holes in the back frame, making customization both functional and visually appealing.
This well-preserved sideboard was meticulously treated in its time with a unique process of acid that removed humidity, leaving the surface with a light, slightly raw finish (afterwards treated with either oil or grease). Despite its substantial size, the design feels balanced and elegant. The squared proportions lend a calm, warm look, while bold wood carvings on the front and the textured detailing in the frame between the legs create a refined, brutalist aesthetic. The six sturdy legs, connected by a low crossbeam, add to its sense of strength and stability.
The design is strikingly dynamic: the lower section has a baroque, sculptural feel with organic carvings, while the upper section is clean and refined, with cross-patterned details on the four doors that create a beautiful visual contrast.
with perfect dimensions for a living room, the sideboard provides ample storage without overwhelming the space. It pairs beautifully with classic mid-century, art deco, Bauhaus, or even art nouveau pieces, especially in darker wood tones. It also fits seamlessly into modern concrete-and-glass interiors, adding warmth, depth, and character to contemporary spaces.
The locks on the doors work smoothly, with one drawer lock not functional, but all drawers slide perfectly.
