The black-and-white photo from 1962 shows a desert scene in Saguaro National Park, dominated by towering saguaro cacti. The landscape is arid, with a few sparse bushes, and the background features rugged mountains under a partly cloudy sky. The unique ribbed structure and multiple arms of the cacti are prominent, capturing the iconic look of these desert giants. Erich Andres was born in Germany in 1905 and passed away in 1992. He began his career as a photographer in 1920 and was one of the first to use a Leica camera. Today, his work is exhibited in several museums, including the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. In 1951, Andres contributed to Edward Steichen's iconic exhibition "The Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The print is new, a Fine Art Print on high quality paper (Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta) printed by Whitewall. It comes to you in a tube to keep shipping costs as low as possible.
