Large Carrara marble sculpture signed Barrias for Louis Ernest BARRIAS (1841-1905), depicting a young musician. He is seated on a cushion with pompoms resting on a pedestal, playing a three-stringed instrument. It stands on a base measuring 19 cm by 19 cm. Louis-Ernest Barrias, born April 13, 1841 in Paris and died February 4, 1905 in the same city, was a French sculptor from a family of artists. After studying fine arts in Paris, he went to Rome and became one of the great hopes of French sculpture. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
