This model, representing Anna Foucart, the eldest daughter of Jean-Baptiste Foucart, a faithful friend of the artist, was created in 1865. Carpeaux himself distributed it in his studio on rue Boileau in Auteuil from 1868, and his heirs continued to publish it.
