In 1996 Gerhard Herbst Studios began exploring ways to incorporate gemstones into Herbst’s Anticlastic forms. The outcome of these investigations resulted in the columniation of ten works that utilized tension setting as a solution to fit semiprecious stones into his pieces. Solitaire Bangle, was produced from 1996 to 2003 and although several works were manufactured in sterling this piece is one of only two produced in sterling silver and 14k Gold.

Modernist designer, Gerhard Herbst translates sculptural form into the jewelry medium. Popularly known for his spatial shapes and fluid manipulations of metal, Herbst began producing his unique style of jewelry in 1975. Herbst continued to study both sculpture and jewelry design at San Diego State University, and upon graduating he established his jewelry studio in Ocean Beach California. Adopting a wholesale manufacturing business model, Herbst would reproduce designs which he would then sell to leading museum shops and galleries throughout the United States.
