This artwork depicts a serene cityscape of a sheltered village under a cloudy sky, on the banks of a river. The houses, at the center of the composition, are highlighted by their pastel facades, contrasting harmoniously with the earthy tones of the bare trees that surround them. The contours of the buildings demonstrate a precise technique and a scrupulous attention to detail, despite a desire to simplify the forms. The bridge, the centerpiece of the work, crosses the stage from right to left, creating a visual dynamic that guides the viewer's gaze. The arches of the bridge, robust and graceful at the same time, symbolize a link between the two parts of the village and add depth to the composition. The trees, with their bare, slender branches, line the main road and frame the scene. Their dark silhouettes stand out against the muted background of the landscape, emphasizing the melancholic and peaceful aspect of this representation. The subtly integrated play of light and shadow gives a soft and contemplative atmosphere to the whole. The painter managed to capture the tranquil atmosphere of a sleeping village, frozen in time. He uses a restrained but effective palette, combining dark, cool hues with warmer pops of color to evoke the softness of an autumn day. This work, with its balanced composition and unique atmosphere, irresistibly draws the viewer on a visual journey through this picturesque and timeless scene. This piece has an attribution mark,
