First produced in 1988 this design remained in production until 1993. This piece is a customer return which came back to us in the mid 1990s and has remained archived since then. Recently reshaped and refinished, this work presents an opportunity to purchase a vintage pair 1980s of earrings in essentially new condition. Gerhard Herbst Studio earrings are individually hand forged to create superior flex, strength, and temper in each piece. Utilizing the unique properties of the Anticlastic form, our earrings are specially designed to twist open to accommodate fitting.

Modernist designer, Gerhard Herbst translates sculptural form into the jewelry medium. Popularly known for his spatial shapes and fluid manipulations of metal, Herbst began producing his unique style of jewelry in 1975. Herbst continued to study both sculpture and jewelry design at San Diego State University, and upon graduating he established his jewelry studio in Ocean Beach California. Adopting a wholesale manufacturing business model, Herbst would reproduce designs which he would then sell to leading museum shops and galleries throughout the United States. Although no edition numbers were set, total production was limited as each piece was individually and personally handcrafted by the artist. See less
