William Goliasch was a Swiss painter born in 1922 and died in 1986. He is best known for his winter landscape works, but also produced abstract paintings and still lifes.
He began painting in the 1940s. He exhibited for the first time in 1950 at the Galerie Saint-Gervais in Geneva. Subsequently, he continued to exhibit regularly in Switzerland, but also in France and Germany.
Goliasch is considered an artist of modern art. His technique consists of meticulous work with the material, which allows him to create effects of light and texture. He mainly uses cold colors like blue, purple and white, which reinforces the icy atmosphere of his winter landscapes\.
His work is highly prized by lovers of modern and contemporary art. His unique style, which combines meticulousness in the material and the use of cold colors, has allowed him to be recognized in Switzerland and beyond.
This impressive work of art presents an expressive and captivating portrait, where the artist's rich details and bold techniques unfold powerfully. The painting depicts an elderly character, marked by time, with deeply etched features that tell of a lifetime of experience. His piercing eyes seem to look beyond the visible, adding a mystical dimension to the work. The cat perched on his shoulder adds a subtle complicity between human and animal. The feline's gaze, with its large and luminous eyes, seems to reverberate the intensity of the man's gaze. Her fur is rendered with dynamic contours and a masterful use of line that lends an almost surreal movement to the scene. The color scheme is dominated by a dark and earthy palette, enhanced by cleverly placed touches of light, which accentuate the expressiveness of the faces. The technique used reveals a notable expressionist influence, where the distortion of shapes and the exaggeration of features emphasize raw emotions. In this work, the artist manages to capture the human soul and the subtle interconnection with the animal world. The blend of realism and abstraction makes this painting not only unique but also deeply touching, evoking a reflection on time, solitude and the relationship between man and nature. Original frame
