The … Read more "It is a fragment of sculpture depicting a winged lion, carved in Verona stone, probably dating back to 1500. The lion, symbol of strength and royalty, has a powerful physiognomy, with a mane carefully sculpted around the face. The wings , which extend laterally in a symmetrical way, indicate a connection with symbolic iconographies of the Renaissance, where winged lions often represented power and dominion. In the lower part we can see floral decorations in relief and a base adorned with geometric and curvilinear motifs.
