This stunning sterling silver fish sculpture bowl was designed by renowned artist Graziella Laffi in Lima, Peru, circa 1965. The piece, marked on the rim with "G. Laffi, PERU 925", is a modern tribute to the ceremonial containers of pre-Columbian cultures, highlighting a design that combines ancient and contemporary. Its double-wall construction and hammered finish give it a robust and elegant presence.
Graziella Laffi, born in Florence in 1923 and inspired by her family's tradition, incorporated ancient Peruvian techniques such as hammering and joining, rejecting modern technology. His work, which celebrates Peruvian cultural heritage, has been exhibited in emblematic places such as the Brooklyn Museum and the Strozzi Palace.
