Antique Persian Sultanabad with Medallion in Yellow Cream, Blue Red and Green

Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug, Keivan Woven Arts: rug/ G-0405; Country of Origin: Iran; Type: Sultanabad; Design: Floral, Medallion.
This unique antique Sultanabad rug, with light creamy background, displays a highly decorative, central medallion composed of various flowers and palmettes. The surrounding central field is filled with blossoming branches presented in a diagonal, cross-hatching pattern. Four swept cornices with tulips and various flora rest in each corner of the field. A running pattern of sub-geometric flowers and arrow motifs form the three-band inner and outer guards. Traditional acanthus leaves and palmettes of various colors and designs run in an alternating pattern throughout the complementary central border. This beautiful carpet serves as a testament to Persian craftsmanship and design during the turn of the 19th century.
