It represents the port of the city of Ibiza. Balanced in composition, the scene is divided into two main areas: on the left side, the port with the moored boats, and in the background, the city buildings with the cathedral of the Virgen de las Nieves above. The arrangement of the boats guides the eye towards the horizon line, which is formed by the light-toned buildings. The brushstroke is thick, full of texture, a typical style of late impressionism or post-impressionism. The use of large quantities of paint, applied with a spatula or dense brushstrokes, gives the work a character of great relief and dynamism. The movement of the water and the light reflected on the boats suggest a fresh and bright atmosphere typical of a Mediterranean port. On the back appears a dedication from the author to a friend.
