Ruth Duckworth was a renowned German-American sculptor who was forced from her native Germany during the Nazi regime. After studying in England for a time, she moved to the United States and accepted a teaching position at the University of Chicago. As a distinguished ceramicist, her work is represented in the Smithsonian American Art Museum's collection, as well as in selections around the world, including Europe, Japan, and the United States.
