The footed trough has a rectangular form and shallow, oval basin, hand-shaped from solid limestone with balanced symmetry and perfectly imperfect texture. A pattern of vertical grooves textures the trough on all sides, the result of careful chiseling by hand. The irregular surface of the stone has softened with time, developing rounded edges and a subtle patina from centuries of use. A drainage hole is drilled into the center of the basin, making this trough ideal as a garden planter or stone sink basin.
