In an exclusive collaboration with pagoda red, each hand-studded piece by artist the bms. was transformed from a provincial 19th century artifact into a one of a kind work of art. Embellishing with silver and gold thumbtacks, the bms. Adds a contemporary twist to our storied objects, animating each surface with bold and provocative designs.
Carved from the cylindrical form of a single bamboo segment, this 19th century headrest was originally used to preserve intricate hairstyles during sleep. The bms. Enhanced the headrest's unusual form, re-imagining the piece on its side as a decorative candle sconce. The golden interior casts a warm glow over its surroundings, lit by the twinkling light of a tealight or votive candle set below.
