Beautiful woodcut print from artist Leona Pierce 1954. A fun playful piece that reminds of the pleasures of childhood.
Leona Pierce - painter, printmaker, textile artist, and teacher - was born January 28, 1921 in Santa Barbara, California. She studied at the Art Students League and the New School with Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Stuart Davis. She married the artist Antonio Frasconi eventually settling in Norwalk, Connecticut. Leona was a well known printmaker, especially for her color woodcuts of children. Her work is in the Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, New York Public Library, Library of Congress and the Smithsonian American Art Museum
