Here is a super unique piece from the early 20th c, likely the 1930's that features a mechanical device that lifts the bottom of the table up and opens the beveled glass top. You can see the small hook below the glass display area in the first 3 photos. You pull on this and voila, it quickly opens up! In fact, it opens a bit faster than I think originally intended, so it's not best for glasses and barware. However, if you can control the speed with one hand on the top. It closes and locks into place by pushing the center down. The glass looks wonderful in all sections with gold borders at the top. The base of the piece is an espresso finish and appears to be solid wood. It does have a nice weight to it. The inside is lined in black felt fabric that looks newer. On the very bottom there are small rolling balls, but I do not find it easy to push on a flat surface, it stays put very well. Just a great piece for a collector and looks very elegant. Can be used as a side table, pedestal, nightstand, lamp table, etc. I have added some pieces in the last photo to give you an idea.

Some surface scratches, as seen to the top in the 6-7th photos. Glass excellent. Structurally excellent. Inside is clean. The table opens as intended, albeit a bit quickly. I do not see a closing button, but it locks easily when the glass doors are closed. There is a slight separation from doors to base when the top is closed. less
