At 11, he was already exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne. After traveling to Italy and Tunisia, he became known for his decorations for Colette and Coco Chanel.

After the war, he collaborated with the Manufacture of Sèvres and worked alongside his brother Serge Roche, a renowned decorator, to create prestigious works, including for Lord and Lady Cholmondeley. Camille Roche was also recognized for his drawings of nudes, landscapes, and animals, and regularly participated in the major art salons of his time.

According to family records, Camille Roche married Andrée Vallée in 1916, who appears in the painting. He remarried nine years later, in 1925, to the mother of his future children. This painting is a depiction of Andrée Vallée, created around 1920.
