This piece comes to us from an auction in the Pacific Northwest and was made by the Tohono O'odham people of southern Arizona. European colonizers named these people the "Papago," however, that term has been rejected. Instead, Tohono O'odham means "desert people." It measures about 5.5" tall and almost 8" across. This vintage basket features geometric designs across the plate with a tall handle secured at both edges. We acquired it from a Montana auction some time ago. See less
