An exceptionally rare wall lamp designed by hans-agne jakobsson and produced by hans-agne jakobsson ab, markaryd, sweden, during the 1950s.
this beautifully composed design showcases jakobsson's remarkable ability to combine warm natural materials with carefully controlled light. A sculptural solid teak arm projects elegantly from a distinctive copper wall plate, supporting a striking cylindrical shade finished in its original deep blue enamel.
suspended within the outer shade is an opaline glass diffuser, supported by three finely crafted brass rods. This sophisticated double-shade construction softens and disperses the light while concealing the bulb, producing the warm, glare-free illumination that became the hallmark of jakobsson's lighting.
the harmonious combination of teak, copper, brass, enamel and opaline glass demonstrates the designer's exceptional sensitivity to materials and proportion. The lamp retains its original inline switch and generous 230 cm electrical cord, making it suitable for use as a bedside reading lamp, architectural wall light or statement accent within both modern and period interiors.
examples of this model are seldom encountered and represent one of the more unusual designs from hans-agne jakobsson's early production.

about hans-agne jakobsson
hans-agne jakobsson (1919–2009) ranks among the most influential scandinavian lighting designers of the twentieth century. After training as a carpenter and architect, he established hans-agne jakobsson ab in markaryd, sweden, in 1951. His designs are celebrated for their warm, atmospheric illumination and masterful use of natural materials including brass, copper, teak, wood veneer and opaline glass. Rejecting harsh direct light, jakobsson developed layered shades and diffusers that produced a soft, inviting glow, making his work highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
about hans-agne jakobsson ab
founded in markaryd in southern sweden, the company quickly established an international reputation for producing lighting of exceptional quality and craftsmanship. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, its lamps were exported worldwide and became synonymous with scandinavian modern design. Today, original early hans-agne jakobsson pieces—particularly uncommon models combining teak, copper and coloured enamel—are increasingly difficult to acquire and continue to appreciate among collectors.
an outstanding and seldom-seen example of hans-agne jakobsson's early work, this lamp beautifully illustrates his philosophy of combining natural materials with carefully controlled, atmospheric light. Both sculptural and highly functional, it is an exceptional piece of swedish mid-century lighting. This piece has an attribution mark,
