Handwoven in all-natural jute, this 2x8 flatweave and runner rug design represents the Block Print rug line of Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic weaving style.

On the Design:

Cream white tones underscore a repeat of minimalist floral patterns in chartreuse green and burgundy red tones. Admirers of the craft may note a subtle inspiration from antique Mughal rug patterns in the motifs at play. The jute construction is also a very eco-friendly, sustainable green choice in modern weaving—one of many contemporary contributions to a classic style that speaks to the soul of this new collection.

About the Collection:

The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. To wit, many of our designs draw on time-honored, even archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mughal/Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to make their own personal connection. Some of our contributions to the aesthetic include a subtle high-low texture for an added sense of dimension, a wool-and-silk blend that creates a more elegant play of the light, and a wider range of vibrant, contemporary colors that brighten and enrich a room.
