Designed … Read more This set of 8 dining / guesthouse / inn chairs comes from Czech Republic and was manufactured in Fryšták. Designed by Valentin Jadrníček, who founded his first manufacture in Fryšták near Zlin and started the production in 1891. The production was mainly focused on objects made of bent beech wood, such as chairs, tables and garden furniture. At the beginning of the 20th century, it became an important producer of winter sports equipment, especially skis and sledges. from the 1930s, Jadrníček’s company also significantly penetrated the office furniture market, and a large share of its export goods went to England. Jadrníček’s so-called inn chair was widely used since the beginning of the 20th century as an alternative to Thonet’s dining chair number 14 from 1859. In the cast-iron parts connecting the front and back legs, elements reminiscent of floral art nouveau can still be seen. The chair made of bent beech massif was characterized by a subtle but durable construction, and therefore became a popular part not only of cafes and inns. This particular set is after detailed renovation. The metal elements have been glass-blasted and finished with transparent lacquer, that protects them from corrosion.
