Artist - Nina Buxton (deceased) \ Biography

Nina was born in Khartoum, Sudan, of French parents, and was raised in Egypt where she studied art under Professor Carlo Minotti and Professor Tahia Halim. She moved to Paris to continue her studies at the University of Paris, Academie Julien and Academie de Grande Chaumiere. During this period, she spent her summers traveling and studying art in Europe and the Middle East. She then immigrated to the United States, venturing to Hawaii, Tahiti, Mexico and Canada.

Nina continued painting, teaching art, and conducting art tours throughout Europe and Israel. She has as extensive background in all phases of art. Most notable are her oil paintings on canvas using only a palette knife.

Her paintings are part of the collections of Senator Pat Murray (WA), the late Governor Lawton Chiles (FL), diplomatic offices, state buildings, as well as art collections at Sun Bank, Florida National Bank, IBM, Gerber, Coca Cola, the University of Florida, Shands Hospital, the Museum of Florida Art, the Elliott Museum, the Kessler Art Collection and other collections both in the United States and abroad.

Nina has been an Official United States Coast Guard Artist since 1992. See less
