Made with hand-knotted wool and originating from Morocco, this 3x4 Moroccan rug by Rug & Kilim represents an exciting new line of contemporary tribal rugs. Its design represents some of the most devoted nomadic weavers in rural Morocco today, both keeping a rich tradition alive and helping it to flourish with new possibilities today.
On the Design:
A light and warm palette of cream white and peach tones underscores a simple, textural monochromatic piece, with large-scale geometric patterns inspired by Berber primitivist motifs—in this case lozenges in the form of chevrons. Keen eyes for detail will further admire the relatively sharp execution of these motifs in the pile—a more clean, contemporary look than many vintage and antique Moroccan carpets could achieve in their geometry. The result is both a cozy, comfortable choice for any space and a rich marriage of contemporary and traditional design, which speaks to the soul of this collection—striving to contribute to an iconic style while still preserving its soul and honoring its foundations.
This accent rug’s size is also a notable, versatile choice with vast applications, both in flooring and in wall-hanging projects welcoming a rich work of modern folk art.
