Work by the artist Marcello Avenali (1912-1981). Steel and glass sculpture, created in 1969. In 1970 it was multiplied for an installation for the Banco Santo Spirito (Vatican Bank) at the Rome headquarters in Piazza del Quirinale, then dismantled in 1980.
Performed in n. 36 examples, the structure was located in correspondence with two large windowed rooms (180x360 cm.).
Characteristics: Circular steel band, on the external side it has n. 12 brass supports to which adjustable steel slats are fixed, on the internal side n. 24 always adjustable brass and steel supports that accommodate a parallelepiped in amber-coloured glass paste in different shades.
The possibility of regulating all the transparent and reflective elements makes the conformation of the structure freely variable and, if necessary, positioning a lighting body, managing luminous and filtering effects,
The size is 60 in diameter of the circle with open slats and base approximately 100 x 90, 20cm deep.
Photographs of the time, certificate and evaluation of the foundation, certificate of the glass factory "Manifattura d'arte del Vetro di Felice Quintin" (Florence) are available.
