This stunning side table has a captivating piece of … Read more A handsome mahogany French Empire bedside table from the 19th century. This stunning side table has a captivating piece of St. Anne marble on top, which is in wonderful antique condition. Large ebonized diamond details can be found on the sides and drawer-front, ornamenting the antique with geometric motifs, a la the Directoire style as well. A drawer is housed within the apron and can be accessed using its stylized brass ring pulls on either side of an ebonized panel. The front corners of the case are chamfered, echoing the geometric motif of the sides, whereas the angular rosettes on the back corners underscore the organic, textural variety seen throughout the materials. Four turned legs lift the top and are joined below at the shaped shelf lifted by thoughtfully turned feet. Circa 1830.
