A 17th century French engraving from the series 'The Dance of Work: Satires and Grotesques of the Professions, circa 1700 by Nicolas de Larmessin (1640-1725).

“Intentionally I make a reference to the general composition, which in turn I transform through colors, forms and additional elements, from my own artistic vocabulary. I use reliefs and textures to finally recreate it into my own work”. The goal is to conceive an interrelationship between the original and the homage work, shake up the senses and create a related understanding. These references are made, to influence the viewer and add layers of depth to the work, based on viewer’s prior knowledge and understanding.
