A nicely preserved pair of absolutely huge table lamps by the laurel manufacturing company, a leading name in american mcm lighting design during the 1950s-70s.
the lamps comprise a cast aluminium base with a gold-coloured lacquer, a bladed knop shape and an impressed atomic era pattern, surmounted by an oval column wrapped in a teak veneer, with a further knopped stem above.
the lamps bear their original shade 'harps', but these have been adapted slightly to take standard european shades (but can be easily removed to reinstate an american 'spider' shade).
this piece has an attribution mark,
