A stunning bronze figure, titled "Le Commerce" The young man has his right hand holding a ruler, left hand holding a laurel branch. He is leaning against a large anchor and plinth supporting a lion carcass.
Base marked "Ferrand Salon de 1903"
Artist: Ernest Justin Ferrand (1846-1932)
Ernest Justin Ferrand was a French artist who was active in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. He regularly participated in the Paris Salon from 1882. His work is composed of mythological characters, allegories and various scenes. His complementary fisherman sculpture "Pêcheur au harpon" recently sold at auction at Christie's New York for $8,750 in Oct. 2018.
