There are clues that lead us to believe its authenticity, particularly the handwritten note on the back: "This picture supposed to be one of the (Latris?) Berkeley was given to us in 1902 February by the Revd Henry Mitchell Vicar of Bosham (illegible name) 1902."

Henry Mitchell (b. 1845) was a Vicar of Holy Trinity, Bosham Parish, West Sussex, England
