a wonderful classic coffee table by peter hvidt & orla mølgaard-nielsen for france & son dates from the 1960s. A high-quality solid frame and table top made of teak.

condition:
this iconic sledge-low coffee table has been re-finished, lightly sanded and sealed with a wonderful danish oil to protect it for years to come.
the veneer around the top of the table has worn away in a couple of tiny places, but this all adds to the charm and character of the table knowing it has been used and loved for over 60 years.
tiny previous mend on the bottom of one of the sledge legs, but this was checked and does not affect the future use of the table.
good solid heavy coffee table ready to be used and loved by a new owner.

some information on the manufacturers:
founded in 1948 by the british businessman charles france and his danish partner eric daverkosen. In the early years, the company was called france & daverkosen, charles’s son james joined the company in 1957 which resulted in the name change to france & son.

at the very beginning, the company produced mattresses. They then developed the idea to use two simple loose sprung cushions on their first chairs which would pave the way for a whole new generation of minimalist framed modernist chairs and furniture to follow. This piece has an attribution mark,
