"I painted over this small abstract three times. It never felt right. One day I had a little blush left on my palette knife from another painting, and I wiped it across this abstract. It was the perfect touch. Then, looking up from my work, I realized I had subconsciously painted all the winter colors out my window: the pine trees, the blue/gray of the sky, snow, and the "blush" of the deciduous trees flanking the mountains."
