Fine quality, large early watercolor is skillfully executed by this listed English artist whose landscapes are highly sought after. The work depicts a loch scene with Scottish pines on the left, a ruin and drover with cattle in the center, and small boat with anglers to the right. In the distance mountain peaks form a sublime backdrop to the landscape. It is a most serene and peaceful picture. Signed and dated on a rock in the landscape, 1858, lower left. Displayed in a period giltwood frame and glazed.
