Square antique colorful Kuba Caucasian rug with Cross Medallions. Keivan Woven Arts. Rug R20-0818, country of origin / type: Caucuses / Kuba, circa late-19th century.
This wonderfully colored Kuba rug from the southern Caucasus features two cross medallions and an octagonal shield ornament. Its presence in this piece demonstrates the technique and design proliferation throughout the Caucasus. The diagonal coloring and arrangement of the field ornaments is enhanced by the colorful diagonal striping of the main borders.
