This vintage 5x8 Persian Kilim is a mid-century tribal rug, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
Its design most likely represents a Jajim-style Kilim–a flat-weaving technique in which multiple pieces are combined into one. This particular design plays stripes with lozenges and plaid borders—all favoring rich, burgundy red, navy blue, off-white and orange in its warm play of traditional tones.
Keen eyes will further note the vibrant textural embroideries in its field and border, and admire the touch of whimsy they lend its presence. It's a playful work with personal touches that beautifully captures the rustic charm in old-world nomadic Persian weaving that we love.
This vintage Persian tribal Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
