This lovely table is unusual and so eye-catching! The top is an inlaid checkerboard pattern utilizing birch squares with alternating grain patterns and natural color variations surrounding a larger central square divided into triangles. The substantial apron is perfectly balanced against the weight of the root-like profile of the legs with their substantial arched stretchers. These clearly nod towards nature and the knobby trees with their soft organic profiles that would have inspired the shape. Finished in a glowing French polish, a very fine (and incredibly sturdy) presentation piece that views well from every angle.
