This "Assembly of … Read more A large Korean temple painting which is executed on silk and then mounted on board and framed. This "Assembly of Buddhist Deities" painting is most likely early 20th century, but possibly older. Depicting the Tejaprabha Buddha or deified North Star in the center flanked by two attendant bodhisattvas, Sunlight and Moonlight, each holding an orb, framed by the deified Seven Stars or bodhisattvas as well as eight earthly deities, having an inscription at lower center, framed. Measures 56 x 44 inches. Comes from the estate of Joyce T. Hass in San Antonio, Texas. In very good condition with some discoloration here and there. A very beautiful devotional work of art. See less
