Dedicated to De Kooning whose first major masterpiece was entitled, Excavation."
Ripped up pieces of my figurative and abstract drawings over the years and attached to a large piece of gator board as a substrate. Each piece has its own character and vitality yet relates to the others as a large integrated statement.
This layering process went on for a period of time with additions and extractions and even dying some of the papers with coffee or tea.
The piece is very light weight and easily carried or moved by one person. Depending on the buyer's preference, the piece can be hung as is with the placement of some wire and hooks on the back. Or if a frame is desired, there is no need for glass as the front has been lightly sprayed with varnish, and to allow the piece some breathing room, i would suggest the framer use a spacer with the frame (perhaps natural white wash wood or thin black wood).
The size is still within the limitations of shipping the piece via UPS or Fedx ground at a remarkably low rate.
