The owner told me she acquired this piece directly from the artist. Zuni Native American wood carvings, intricate and culturally significant, often depict animals, supernatural beings (this mermaid a perfect example), and symbolic motifs, reflecting the Zunis' deep spiritual beliefs and connection to nature. Zuni artists showcase a unique blend of traditional techniques with contemporary creativity, resulting in vibrant and meaningful pieces representing the Zuni heritage. See less
