The statue is known as Bacchus the God of grapes and wine. The statue is over 100 years old, and it was salvaged off of the historic Vanderbilt Hotel in New York. Yes this is one of those amazing statues you look up and see at the top of a big building on the New York skyline! There is such amazing detail in the craftsmanship of this statue. He is made of terra-cotta with a beautiful glaze . The Statue comes in two pieces and is very heavy and solid. This is the first time we have ever had an opportunity to salvage an item like this, with such great historic significance. It appears that at one point the statue had a crack and had been fixed during the buildings renovation . There are a few chips and nicks but nothing major only showing the statues true age .
