Signed … Read more Lovely mid-century modern oil on panel painting entitled “Old House” painted by Swedish artist Gunnar Jonn (1904 - 1963). Signed at dated “‘43” on front lower left. Original mid-century frame has acquired a beautiful age-related patina.

Gunnar Jonn was born in 1904 in Malmö, Sweden, and studied at both the Skåne painting school from 1926 to 1928 as well as the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1933 to 1936.

His works have been exhibited at the Swedish Museum of Modern Art, the Skåne Arts Society, as well as museums in Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg.
