Simon's catalogue of his personal collection of books on Gastronomy printed before 1861, "is not a Bibliography but the Catalogue of a very personal Library, a Catalogue of some of the books which have given me considerable pleasure to collect in the course of the past half-century, wherever I could find them, and whenever I could afford them". The Catalogue was produced to coincide with the donation of Simon's library to the Wine And Food Society to "be a source of pleasure and profit to students and bibliophiles in years to come". See less
