A masterpiece of exotic specimen marble arranged in a geometric mosaic pattern – a wonderful collector piece reflecting Italy’s refinement, artistic curiosity and craftmanship. "Pietra Dura" (marble-inlay technique) originated in Italy during the Renaissance Florence period between 1660-1840; it became an international symbol of wealth and good taste - a hand crafted souvenir, work of art for Grand Tourists to display in their homes and demonstrate their wealth and refined taste. Centuries later, these revered pieces are more select and harder to find.
