A rare, exceptional, Center Table with an Italian Grand Tour, Pietra Dura Specimen Marble Top, circa 1800’s. A masterpiece of exotic specimen marble, arranged in a geometric mosaic pattern – a wonderful collector piece to elevate your home, reflecting Italy’s refinement, artistic curiosity, and craftmanship. Pietra Dura (marble-inlay technique) originated in Italy, during the Renaissance Florence period between 1660-1840; it became an international symbol of wealth & good taste - a hand crafted souvenir, work of art for Grand Tourists to display in their homes and demonstrate their wealth & refined taste. Centuries later, these revered pieces are becoming more select, and harder to find.
Equally impressive, it’s dark brass & bronzed-toned metal, cantilever base with modern, angular lines. Strong & heavy-duty, skillfully hand-crafted from solid, hand-forged steel. The angular base supporting heavy marble is an impressive testimonial to its strength and design integrity. It’s a piece of history, both modern and old world. A perfect statement piece or focal point for your home. As a Curator and Interior Designer, these are the unique design qualities I seek – knowing it will transcend time, always in style, never trendy.
