Andrés Segovia,
acrylic board with total measurements of 65 x 54 cm.
Argentine artist of the 20th century, he studied both in Buenos Aires and Paris. In the mid-1950s he exhibited his paintings and lithographs in Europe, the United States and Argentina. His style was very reminiscent of the work of Bernard Buffet. Today, his art can be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Dusseldorf, the Musée de l'Athenee in Geneva, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
He was born in Buenos Aires on September 25, 1929 and died in Paris in July 1996.
The son of Spanish parents, he spent a lively childhood between South America, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and finally France where he arrived in Paris as a Spanish refugee.
He studied in Buenos Aires and Paris.
Painter of the School of Paris, characterized by a color nuanced by its beautiful grisaille light.
For a time he carried out his studies and his painting activities at the same time and, in 1947, he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to painting, but not before having first become interested in the poster technique during his stay in Germany and Switzerland.
He briefly attended Paul Colin's workshop, and his meeting, then friendship, with Antoni Clavé was decisive for him, but he continued his self-taught training.
He began exhibiting his works in the 1950s. In the 1970s he moved further away from the Paris School style, exploring highly defined surrealist imagery in his paintings and prints, then moving into representation. geometric.
He held numerous exhibitions in France and other countries.
He is known for his surreal still lifes, and was the son of the famous classical guitarist of the same name. This piece has an attribution mark,
