Such a serene, authentic, Japanese art piece, drawn in blank and white ink, on hand-planed, wooden strips that have been woven together, in marquetry fashion. The three-birds-in-a-tree artwork has been signed/stamped on the lower left side, in red (see pics). The piece was purchased from MacDonald’s, Hancock Furniture CO.
The artwork (including the matting) measures:
18.75”H X 5.75”W and it weighs 1.2lbs.

- The frame is original, but it looks too nice (probably painted), but the glass is old, as it has a … moreThe frame is original, but it looks too nice (probably painted), but the glass is old, as it has a bubble in it (see pic—I had a horrible time trying to photograph it, if the lighting is not right, you will never find it!). I would guess that the backing has been replaced (again, too nice for its age)—and I doubt that this was the original hanger—although it is adorable and I applaud their efforts! ;) The artwork itself is stunning. There is a tiny “bend” in the matting, on the lower, right-hand side (see pic)—I am a believer in not disturbing old artwork—life’s lessons learned along the way! less
