Gilded bronze candlestick forming a flower stem ending in a bud. This candlestick model is among Riemerschmid's first creations in the field of Decorative Arts, but also among the first most representative manifestations of Judendstil, Munich Art Nouveau. The shape of the object combines flexibility and sobriety. Of a possible plant model, only the allusion to its development and growth is retained. Riemerschmid is looking for suggestion and restitution of the idea of biological life and, unlike contemporary Scottish and Viennese research, he refuses the straight line. from the swirling base springs a stem, whose vigorous dynamism is unhindered by any detail until the final budding. A pair of candlesticks is on display at the Musée d'Orsay. Dimensions Height 35,8cm Base diameter 16cm This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
