Vintage 19th Century; French Napoleonic hand-painted and parcel gilt, full size upholstered bed frame. French Neoclassical-style, fluted posts on each apposing ends, of head board and foot boards. Foot board legs to upper portions have a floral medallion embellished details, as well as to the base of the legs, of this repetitive theme with the same medallion. The base fluted legs at the uppermost area has been topped with finials, in a featherlike or brush fringed design. which also has been parcel gilt. At the base of each exposed leg, ends with substantial rounded and fluted feet with gilded trim surround. Whereupon each medallion to base level, are the section or area on each end, base board and head board area, where there are domed, gilded covers, that for esthetic purposes cover the screws that attache the bed together, ad as that esthetic to not detract from the overall effect and design esthetic of this bed. In addition to this the inner-sanctum of the base and side board surround, has pleated silk skirting, with underlining. These are detachable and skirting is removable for dry-cleaning, and/or steaming, as one can see needs to be done.
The footboard body has an oval-shaped diorama, of a hand-painted and parcel gilt storyboard of a female or Little Bo-Peep type of along the edge of fencing and a tree lined, wooded area, with her herd of sheep, while a young male is peeping behind a tree at her, along with floral details and linear painted details. While almost the simplicity of the red cape, also conjures up a double entendre as a willing signal of the "proverbial charging bull," in all it's subtlety, waving on a male counterpart, as the era when a man or a woman, young as they are was an affront without an older figure present in any arena, room, outdoor venue, etc. or touching for that matter outside the bounds of protocol of courteous behavior, should it resonate back to their family's or beware the entire community and it's fodder. The head board has been upholstered in an out of stock and discontinued Pierre Frey textile, of a French royal blue coloration with minute, repetitive floral bouquets. While the same embellished details to the legs and upper portion of frame are indicative to the footboard frame and legs, but raised higher to indicate presence and main discerning ends head vs feet, hence also the upholstered headboard, a simple deduction. The bed come apart on 4 pieces, the head, foot board, and 2 side boards. The domed covers for the long bolt screws, which holds the bed together has been misplaced, but sure to be found, as it is in the same climate-controlled environment stored away, and will be found, as it is an esthetic to cover those long bolts, which protrude to the center of the medallions.
WE APOLOGISE for the harsh orange over-dyed rug under the bed, it was set up with other beds in a large industrial office environmental bldg. prior to our arrival, to indicate a designated area which should have been, non-innruciv to the photographed piece, beds being large scale and all, and we tried to do it the justice it deserves under hose parameters.
IF there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask any and all, we may have to delay reply IF for any reason we, within the storefront cannot answer, questions that the owners, (who have consigned them to this storefront), may be able to readily answer, and in this minute delay, we readily appreciate your patience, even though in addition we will reply to all to keep the communication open, and constant.

From what we ascertained the textile to the headboard was changed out to the new owners specifications, and some of the parcel gilt was touched up to fix any destroyed areas, due to time and period of piece, the rest we are unaware, other than what was presented to us. less
