In high karat gold.

In the style of Eugene Fontenay.

Bezel-set with an extremely finely painted plaque depicting an allegory to the arts: with a cherub in drapery holding an artist's palette in one hand, a brush in the other, and painting at an easel before him.

The architectural gold work has wirework and granulation throughout.

The pin was likely converted from a larger piece of jewelry with a ghost mark of a prior bail on the finial, and a later soldered hinge to the reverse.

Simply an extremely high-quality antique brooch!
